SNOW SISTERS SKI RACE-JANUARY 10

Calling all female skiers, age 7 and older.  The snow is coming and the 2nd annual SNOW SISTERS ski race is January 10, 2017!

I took part in the race last year and it was a very well-run event!  I’d never done a ski race like this before and, although nervous, I found it to be low stress and lots of fun.  Go at your own pace, get cheered on by volunteers, and walk away with a prize.

Registration just opened at midnight and with 80 spots available, only 61 remain!  19 spots filled in a matter of hours, my daughter and I among them.

More info and video from last year here:

Photos & Movie Short

Our very own Peter Sim (Kevin’s father) has once again created a movie short for our club… this time it is of our outing to Beaudry Park this past Sunday November 27.

Take a look at the photos and 3-minute film short by going to our PHOTOS link in the website menu.

Photos for the year will be added at random.  Thank you to all who help out by sending me APJ footage to post.  Much appreciated.

No session Sunday Oct 16

There will not be an APJ session (dryland training) on Sunday October 16, as was previously posted on the Schedule.

Updated Schedule/Calendar now on Website

Hello everyone and welcome to another year of APJ skiing!

If you’ve been on the website lately you’ll have noticed that the Calendar and Schedule were both “under construction”.  They are now complete and ready for viewing.

Please note that the Menu links/headers are ALL “click-able”… the main header is not just there to look pretty.  You can actually click both the main heading and the drop-down menus that appear beneath!

If you need any help navigating the website, let me know and I’ll try to walk you through it.

Looking forward to another year on the trails!

APJ: Club of the Year winner!

Just over a week ago, a small group from APJ attended the CCSAM awards night.  While it was a terrific night to meet a wide variety of Manitoba skiers, celebrate accomplishments, and enjoy a wonderful dinner together, it was especially exciting to hear the surprise announcement that Assiniboine Park Jackrabbits was nominated as “Club of the Year”!

Coach Ihor, who initiated our club, was once a participant, back in the day.  Said of Ihor that evening, “Here he is, 40 years later, passing along the love of cross-country skiing in Manitoba. Now that is dedication and loyalty.”

In fact, it was announced that child-skier-Ihor was part of the very first Jackrabbit ski club in Canada – and that club originated right here in Winnipeg! (see Ihor’s bio)

Now that’s something to celebrate.
