Cookie Sprint Off movie & photos

Thank you to everyone who made Sunday such a success!  We had “The Great Cookie Sprint Off!” and a photo session with a record 40 Jackrabbits out for the fun of sprints and devouring cookies!  Thank you parents and coaches for:  baking cookies, planning the ski course/races, offering to help out, and for continually good-natured spirits!

A big thank you to Peter Sim who created a 2:30 minute movie about the event!   Here is the link: The Great Cookie Sprint Off!

For more photos from Sunday, check out the page created under Photos in our Gallery.

Stafford Studios took everyone’s individual photo on Sunday along with a group photo.  If you forgot money, forgot to fill out a form, or didn’t want to commit to buying a photo until you see it, note that they will keep all our photos on file for one year.  You haven’t lost your chance to order.  Please phone Jenn or visit them in person at:

FUN SPRINT RACES with APJ – Assiniboine Park, High-Rose Hills area

Please note that on Sunday, in addition to picture day, the coaches will be running a fun sprint races session.  You won’t want to miss out because it involves feasting on COOKIES from the COOKIE TABLE after each sprint race!

To make this a successful event, please bring 1 dozen cookies per skier for the cookie table.  Thank you!

Family Photos…and APJ calendar

  • APJ Families:  take a look at your beautiful, smiling faces on our website!  You’ll find yourselves under the “Photos” menu link.

Since not all families are posted yet our mission is to complete that page!  Please send in a family photo of yourselves or pose nicely on Sunday for a family photo at our Sunday afternoon session.

  • Calendar/Schedule:  Please take a look at the newly updated calendar/schedule of events on the website.  There are a number of changes listed.  More details coming soon about those events.

LOTS OF UPDATED PAGES ON APJ!

Please take a really good look around at the pages of our website as A LOT of new content has been added this week…

  • a bunch of new photo pages are now posted in Media/Photos (some pages from last season; a page from last Sunday’s session)
  • new info in Marketplace
  • ads in the Buy & Sell
  • new Coaches pictures posted
  • a new page under the “About” menu link entitled, “Ski Gear” (more info from Coach Ihor will be added to that link soon)

And continue to check the Calendar as new events do get added to it now and then.  For example, the annual “Swap Shop” is coming up on November 21 at Windsor Park Nordic Centre.  You might get your ski gear there if you haven’t found some already.

New APJ Photos!

I have now added photos from our APJ session of Sunday February 15, 2015.  Thanks, Anie (aka Zoe’s mom), for sending them to me.   Have a look back at that beautiful day of skiing on the river by clicking here.

Enjoy viewing a wide variety of APJ photos under our Media/Photos drop-down menu at any time.

NOTE:  I am in the process of creating some photo pages of our annual excursion to Falcon Ridge (this past Sunday), as well as the Dash for Cash event (this past Monday).  If you have any photos of either of these two events (or any other APJ ski photos), please send them to me immediately so they can be included on our website.  Thanks!

New Photos!

Yesterday was such an AWESOME session in the Hummocks Area at Assiniboine Park!  What a gem that place is… sheltered from the wind and groomed trails – so wonderful!  I was especially appreciative  of Coach Jeff taking time to coach the parents on technique, too, so we could really be a part of the action and stay warm.

I have added photos from our initial ski session in the Hummocks area back in December.  I was able to capture a number of club members “on film” before my camera batteries died.  Check them out in our Photo Gallery drop-down menu (by date).

A few things to note…

This website has been undergoing a number of changes over the past few weeks.  Bear with me as I stumble over some of the hurdles that come along with navigating new territory.  The menu now has a drop-down option so please take note of the extra links attached to “About”, “Photo Gallery”, and “Marketplace”.

  1. Please spread the word to your friends and family that they are to FOLLOW this website in order to receive email notifications re: any posts to this site.  All announcements about our ski club will be made through website posts from now on.  Please remind fellow club members about this change.
  2. Registration for APJ will be closing in a few weeks (December). You must register for the club for insurance reasons and so the coaches can contact you when necessary.
  3. A “Buy & Sell” section is now attached to this website.  You can find out more about it under “Marketplace”.
  4. Photos have been posted from Sunday’s dry-land session.
  5. Check out the coaches’ bios and photos.  Every coach took time to write a blurb about her- or himself in order for you to know each one better!  Take time to read their stories.
