Registration is OPEN… the calendar is up…let’s SKI!

Welcome back to another year of APJ Jackrabbits skiing!  (With it being a balmy +17℃ today I’m sure you’re in the mood for snow, right?)

Please find the registration information (and current Zone 4 link) under the drop-down tab “About“.  Remember, parents register themselves, too (for free) for insurance purposes.

Check out all the cool events the coaches have planned for us this year:   2015-16 Schedule.  For those who’d like to visually see a calendar, use the drop-down menu and view Calendar under “2015-16 Schedule”.

See you on November 1st!

Potluck wind-up…this Sunday April 26, 2015

One last reminder that our APJ lunch wind-up is taking place on Sunday!  Click here to sign up.  (All the details are on the APJ website, front and centre.)

It’s not too late for anyone to say they’ll attend.

Join us in celebrating fun times in a great ski club and the conclusion of a good year together!

REMINDER: APJ Lunch Wind-Up… Sunday April 26, 2015

Just a friendly reminder that our APJ lunch wind-up is taking place on Sunday!   Click here to sign up.

All APJ families are invited to attend this wind-up potluck regardless of the number of times you actually made it out this winter! We won’t judge.

Tuxedo CC is available for us from 1:30PM to 3:30PM. We hope to be eating by 1:45 p.m. The location is Tuxedo Community Centre skate building (see map). It has washrooms, a kitchen, a playground, and a paved pad.

We look forward to you sharing your family’s favourite meal item(s) at our potluck. We are currently at a count of 75 people attending…which is awesome!   Please ensure each menu item you bring is substantial enough to feed ~15-20 people.

Sign up ASAP if you plan to attend this event… that way we can be better prepared.

PLEASE NOTE: One family has requested that NO tuna be included in any potluck foods as there is a serious health concern associated. Thank you in advance for your sensitivity. We ask that you indicate any extreme food allergies ahead of time (for example: if an individual will be very sick around a particular food even if they avoid contact with it).

APJ wind-up: Sunday April 26, 2015

Our APJ wind-up will be in less than 2 weeks… Sunday April 26, 2015.  It will be a potluck again – at lunch – at the Tuxedo Community Centre. (specific time-frame and details TBA)

I’ll be coordinating the food side of things.  The coaches will be managing the rest of the wind-up.

Rumour has it that the wind-up involves some fun games, awards, and other exciting stuff! (… a bit more than last year where it was a simple potluck. Let’s hope the pouring rain holds off this year.)

So… “mark your calendars” with Sunday April 26, 2015.

You will receive the sign-up information via an email from me associated with the website, “PerfectPotluck.com”.  So be prepared to sign up for bringing a luncheon item when that email gets to you.  Thanks.

Hope to see all of you there!

New APJ Photos!

I have now added photos from our APJ session of Sunday February 15, 2015.  Thanks, Anie (aka Zoe’s mom), for sending them to me.   Have a look back at that beautiful day of skiing on the river by clicking here.

Enjoy viewing a wide variety of APJ photos under our Media/Photos drop-down menu at any time.

NOTE:  I am in the process of creating some photo pages of our annual excursion to Falcon Ridge (this past Sunday), as well as the Dash for Cash event (this past Monday).  If you have any photos of either of these two events (or any other APJ ski photos), please send them to me immediately so they can be included on our website.  Thanks!

Upcoming Ski Events

Please continue to check APJ’s Schedule of Events and the Google calendar that was added a few months ago.

Click here for the calendar so you can keep in the loop and know what’s going on… lots of ski events are popping up all over the place during the month of March and you won’t want to miss out on all the fun!

New Photos!

Yesterday was such an AWESOME session in the Hummocks Area at Assiniboine Park!  What a gem that place is… sheltered from the wind and groomed trails – so wonderful!  I was especially appreciative  of Coach Jeff taking time to coach the parents on technique, too, so we could really be a part of the action and stay warm.

I have added photos from our initial ski session in the Hummocks area back in December.  I was able to capture a number of club members “on film” before my camera batteries died.  Check them out in our Photo Gallery drop-down menu (by date).

Photos from today…

It was our first official “on-skis” session with APJ today. Despite an icy rain misting down on us there was a spectacular turnout. (I mean, who wouldn’t want to miss a lesson if it means seeing Coach Katherine upside-down with her skis in the air?!)  Coach Ihor also gave us an excellent lesson about waxing skis. You can take a look at more photos posted of today’s session in the photo gallery… it’s just a bit of what I could capture before my camera got too wet and icy.

Great turnout today at APJ’s first official on-skis session at the park.

NEW! Training Blog

Please check the APJ website menu to view the new page:  Training Blog.  This new page will be used for posting workouts, as well as training and food & nutrition ideas.

Coach Ihor has taken time to design an excellent workout for the Track Attack skiers of the group .  Club members are encouraged to do this workout three-times-per-week during November and the beginning of December.  Parents are invited to participate, too.  Check it out… Workout #1 looks great!

Sunday’s session still TBA

There have been some phone calls and emails inquiring as to the status of this Sunday’s ski session… will it be happening?  It is still in the “TBA” realm due to the unpredictability of the weather and snow conditions at the Park.

TIPS:

  • Have all your ski gear ready to go.
  • Be prepared for the possibility of some type of APJ session at the Park this Sunday afternoon.
  • Check the website over the next few days for updates.

In the meantime, please note that there have been a few items posted on our Buy & Sell pages (under the “Marketplace” drop down menu).  One item was posted and consequently sold within a day.  However, there is still a really great deal listed:  $80 for a whole ski package!
